How does water flow through a Multimedia Filtration system?

In a Multimedia Filtration system, water flows from the top down through a series of filter media layers, each designed to capture particles of varying sizes. The top layer usually consists of coarse material like anthracite, followed by finer sand and denser garnet or gravel layers.

This structured arrangement allows larger particles to be captured at the surface, while smaller and finer contaminants are trapped deeper within the bed. The flow design minimizes clogging and ensures a gradual pressure drop across the filter.

Once the filtration process is complete, clean water exits through an underdrain system at the bottom of the tank, ready for further treatment or use. Backwashing occurs in the reverse direction, pushing water upward to clean and agitate the media.

Ultra Tec offers expertly engineered Multimedia Filtration systems that ensure optimal flow rates and efficient filtration across diverse water quality conditions.
