Gearbox overheating warning after 30 mins in Sharjah traffic, normal?

Every afternoon for the past week my A4 has been throwing a transmission overheat warning on the dash after about half an hour of crawling through the industrial area traffic, which is odd because it never did this last summer and the temperatures aren't even at their peak yet. If I pull over and let it cool down for fifteen minutes the warning clears and it drives fine again, but I can't exactly do that on my daily commute forever. My coolant levels are fine and the engine temp stays perfectly normal so it seems isolated to the gearbox. I'm guessing the transmission fluid has degraded or maybe the cooler is partially blocked, but a friend who used to work at a garage mentioned that slipping clutches can generate excess heat too which has me a bit worried. I'd rather not ignore it until something catastrophic happens, so I've been looking into places that handle Audi transmission repair and trying to figure out if this is something that can be sorted with a fluid flush and filter or if the overheating is a symptom of deeper wear that's already happening. Anybody had a similar warning and what did it end up being?
